Macau Racecourse

The Macau Racecourse, located on Taipa, is the only horse racing venue in Macau and it is run by the Macau Jockey Club.

The Macau Racecourse was converted from the old trotting track. The old track is now the inner sand track and the newer outer track is turf. The racecourse has an area of 450,000 square meters and can accommodate up to 18,000 racing fans.

Macau Racecourse hosts races every Tuesday and Saturday or Sunday.

The stables at the Macau Racecourse are home to about 1,000 horses.

The Macau Jockey Club was formerly the Macau Trotting Club.

The Macau Trotting Club started in 1980 to introduce harness racing in Asia, but it was not a popular sporting event and gave way to the formation of the current thoroughbred racing club in 1989.

In 1991, the Macau Trotting Club was acquired by a consortium led by Stanley Ho, and the Macau Jockey Club was born. Since then the Macau Jockey Club has been one of the largest private employers of Macau with around 1,400 employees and around 1,100 part-timers.
